Yes Do Not Plan to Cancel Tour After Chris Squire’s Death
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Yes drummer Alan White says bassist Chris Squire had told him to keep going regardless of what happens, so that’s what the band will do. White tells Billboard they’ve got to maintain the Yes name and “meet the high standards of musicianship Chris created.” Squire died June 27 of leukemia and had planned to sit out the next Yes tour anyway, with Billy Sherwood taking over his bass duties. The tour is set to begin August 7 in Mashantucket, Connecticut. White says Yes will pay tribute to Squire during the shows but they don’t know how yet.

The Zombies Use “Odessey and Oracle” Artist Again
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The guy who misspelled the title of The Zombies’ 1968 album “Odessey and Oracle” will get another chance at the cover art. Billboard reports Terry Quirk will create the cover for the upcoming Zombies album, “Still Got That Hunger.” Quirk did the cover art for “Odessey and Oracle” but spelled it with an “e” instead of the first “y.” Back in the day, The Zombies said that was intentional, but more recently they have said it was a mistake that had already gone to print when they caught it.
Andy Grammer Comes From a Family of Musicians
LONDON (AP) — Andy Grammer had no problem convincing his parents to let him become a musician. They’re musicians too. Grammer says his father is a children’s singer and he would write songs with Grammer’s mother in the next room. Grammer says some musicians grow up with fathers who are lawyers who can’t conceive of why someone would want to do music, or there’s a family culture where being a musician is out of the question. Not for him. Grammer says his family supported him when he wanted to be a musician too because they knew it was possible.

CHICAGO (AP) — With the smell of marijuana in the air at the Grateful Dead’s final shows in Chicago this past weekend, you’d think the cops would have been busting people left and right. Chicago police made all of three marijuana-related arrests. The Chicago Sun-Times reports police made one arrest for possession of cannabis on Friday and wrote two tickets for possession of cannabis on Sunday. A police spokesman says officers instead focused on fighting violent crime and addressing illegal guns in the community.
