Independence House, Inc., is a private, nonprofit organization, established in 1979 to serve the needs of survivors of domestic violence and their children. Today Independence House serves as Cape Cod’s counseling, advocacy and resource center for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children. Full and part-time staff supports Independence House along with the assistance of many dedicated volunteers.

Cape Wide Softball Tournament. Suggested donation: $5/per person. Sandy Pond Recreation Area,  Buck Island Road, W. Yarmouth. Bring the family to this all day event where Police, Fire and Town employees from all over the Cape challenge each other in a softball tournament to benefit Independence House. Kids games and activities will also be taking place. Olde C Dogs restaurant truck serving their famous hotdogs and other delicious items with 25% of all food proceeds to benefit Independence House.

Kathleen Healy, Monica Rizzio, Catie Flynn, Todd Nickerson, and Jordan Renzi are wonderfully talented singer-songwriters, each of whom has either just released a new CD or will shortly. all over Cape Cod and the Islands, will start at Yarmouth Police Headquarters at 12:00 noon and travel a beautiful and scenic route through portions of Yarmouth—Dennis—Brewster—Orleans—Chatham—and Harwich and end up crossing over the YPD BLUE 5K RUN FOR A REASON Finish Line on the beach on South Shore Drive in South Yarmouth.

Registration for the ride will begin at 9:00AM. Everyone is urged to be in place at Yarmouth Police Headquarters located at One Brad Erickson Way by 11:00AM. A very special Opening Ceremony will start promptly at 11:30 AM with kickstands up at 12:00 Noon.

Cost is $20 a rider and $10 per passenger and will include a special First Responder Freedom Ride Memorial Bandanna.

Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Yarmouth Police Relief Association, the Yarmouth Police Foundation, and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Motor Officer Unit which provides specially trained Police Officers to special events and public safety operations on Cape Cod.
