The Robert Cray Band / John Hiatt & The Combo
Mornings with Dave Read
June 23 to June 27
Listen to Mornings with Dave Read for your chance to win tickets to see The Robert Cray Band and John Hiatt & The Combo at the Cape Cod Melody Tent!
Early in his career, guitar master Robert Cray caught the attention of icons such as Chuck Berry, Keith Richards and Eric Clapton, each of whom has accompanied Cray live. He has the well-earned reputation of a creative electric bluesman in concert. But it was Cray’s crossover smash “Smoking Gun” and Grammy Winning Album Strong Persuader that made him a household name. He continued his winning streak with hits like “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” and “The Forecast (Calls for Pain).” Of course, there’s only one way to top listening to a Robert Cray album: seeing him live! Come experience this red hot performer at his best!
Closing out the evening will be guitarist, pianist and singer extraordinaire John Hiatt. Hiatt is an exceptionally versatile artist, mastering a wide variety of musical styles, including blues, country and New Wave. The AMA Lifetime Achievement and Nashville Music Award winner had a string of nine straight studio albums that hit the Billboard charts, including Slow Turning, featuring the hit single by the same name. Hiatt has a long list of legendary collaborators, including Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Roseanne Cash. His work has been covered by a vast array of artists in different genres, from Bruce Springsteen to Paula Abdul to Keith Urban – the list goes on and on. Bonnie Raitt had a smash hit with the Hiatt penned “Thing Called Love” and Hiatt’s “Have a little Faith in Me” has been recorded on albums by no less than 30 artists. Here is your chance to see one of today’s premier singer-songwriters.
