LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chicago keyboardist Robert Lamm acknowledges he jumped the gun when he said Peter Cetera would sing at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in April. Lamm tells Billboard magazine he misinterpreted his email exchanges with Cetera and he spoke out of turn when he told Radio.com that Cetera would sing but not necessarily play bass at their induction. Lamm has apologized to Cetera and the music press. Cetera himself has not said whether he’ll even attend the induction, nor has drummer Danny Seraphine, who quit Chicago in 1994.
Gladys Knight Mourns Loss of One of the Pips
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gladys Knight and her brother Bubba Knight are mourning the loss of one of the men who performed alongside the singer as one of the Pips. William Guest died last week of congestive heart failure. He was 74. Guest was a cousin of Gladys and Bubba Knight. But Bubba says Guest was “more like a big brother … than a distant cousin.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — William Guest was one of men who as The Pips, did the background vocals for Gladys Knight and the Pips. He performed through the lifespan of the group, which was together from 1953 through 1989. You can hear his work harmonizing behind Knight on songs like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.” Gladys Knight and the Pips were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Apollo Hall of Fame in 2006. Another group member, Edward Patten — also a cousin of Gladys Knight — died in 2005.
Rock Hall Inductees
UNDATED (AP) — The groundbreaking Los Angeles rap act N.W.A. will join a quartet of 1970s era FM radio rockers — Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and Steve Miller — as 2016 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both Miller and Cheap Trick make it during their first year on the ballots. The induction ceremony for the Cleveland-based hall will be held April 8 in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. HBO will carry highlights later in the spring.
Patti Labelle – BET Honors
ATLANTA (AP) — Patti Labelle will be among those honored at the upcoming BET Honors. The veteran singer will be among those getting special tributes at the event, set for Jan. 23 at the Warner Theater in Washington. A special on the awards ceremony will air the following month. Also being honored this year will be filmmaker Lee Daniels and longtime music executive L.A. Reid.
Sting – Carnegie Hall
NEW YORK (AP) — Sting says he’s kept only one autograph he has ever received: from Frank Sinatra. He says the singer personalized an autograph to him, calling him “the new blue eyes.” Only problem: Sting says his eyes are green. It was one of many stories Sting weaved during his performance Monday night at Carnegie Hall. It was his first gig at the famous New York City venue.
Josh Groban Will Star on Broadway in Tolstoy Adaptation
NEW YORK (AP) — Josh Groban will make his Broadway debut next year in a story torn from “War and Peace.” Groban will star in “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.” It’s a musical adaptation of a 70-page excerpt of Tolstoy’s “War and Peace.” The show is scheduled to arrive on Broadway in September.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Seal, The Band Perry and Charlie Puth will be the musical entertainment for the Miss Universe pageant. Steve Harvey will host the show, which airs live on Fox on Sunday.
Adele Will Play U.S. Dates
NEW YORK (AP) — Adele is expanding her tour to the U.S. Adele will begin her first North American tour in five years on July 5 in St. Paul, Minnesota. All tickets go on sale Thursday. She had to scrap her 2011 tour of the U.S. after she suffered a vocal hemorrhage.
Adele Sales Figures Continue to Climb Dramatically
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Adele continues to dominate album sales in the U.S. Billboard reports her “25” album moved another 728,000 units in its third week of release, putting it at number one on the album chart. By comparison, the number two album, Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Stars,” moved 210,000 units. Adele has sold a total of 5.19 million copies in the U.S. in just three weeks.
