NEW YORK (AP) — It would be hard for any recording artist to drop an album the same day Adele dropped her highly anticipated album “25” — even harder for an artist who hadn’t dropped an album in seven years — or had a major hit since the 1980s. But that’s the hand that was dealt Enya. Her new project is called “Dark Sky Island” — and it’s an effort to recapture some of the chart success she has had in the past. She has sold 80 million albums worldwide in her three decades in the music industry. Enya says she believes “fame and success are two very different things.” And she says she’s fortunate she was able to make decisions that let her focus more on her art than focus on being famous.

Adele – Sales
NEW YORK (AP) — These days, Adele’s biggest competition when it comes to album sales — is herself. Her new release “25” continues at the top of the Billboard album charts. Rolling Stone magazine notes that none of the new releases last week could even dent the top-10 on the albums chart. It all adds up to “25” being the best-selling album in the U.S. since 2011. The album that topped the charts then: Adele’s own “21.”
FBI Releases Part of Pete Seeger’s File
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Pete Seeger’s 1942 letter to the California American Legion denouncing a proposal to deport all Japanese-Americans triggered an FBI investigation that lasted three decades. Nearly 1,700 pages from Seeger’s FBI file have been released by the National Archives under the Freedom of Information Act. Seeger had been drafted and the Army intercepted Seeger’s mail to his fiancee. Authorities also scoured his school records, talked to his father, interviewed an ex-landlord and questioned his pal Woody Guthrie. Investigators raised red flags over Seeger’s association with Lead Belly, who was labeled a “negro murderer.” More documents on Seeger are expected to be released later.
