SYOSSET, N.Y. (AP) — Billy Joel is making a deal with local education authorities: if they promise to keep a music school open, he’ll donate a million dollars to fund it. New York’s Newsday reports Joel is pledging one million dollars to the Long Island High School for the Arts if the local board of education will keep it open for three years. School officials say the school is facing closure because of low enrollment, and it’s running a deficit of about $400,000.
