CAMDEN, Maine (AP) — Don McLean’s wife has been granted a temporary order of protection from him after she cited a pattern of abuse that has lasted three decades. McLean was arrested Monday for misdemeanor domestic violence. His wife filed a handwritten request for protection that said McLean’s rage was “unfathomably deep and scary” in the early days of their marriage. She says her husband terrorized her for four hours earlier this week and she feared for her life when she called 911. McLean has issued a statement saying his marriage is experiencing a “very painful breakdown” and he is not a villain. He says he may never recover from this but he hopes to be able to entertain people as he always has. McLean will resume touring next Wednesday in Chicago.
