MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Keith Richards will be giving props to another prominent ax man this weekend. The Rolling Stones guitarist will induct Elvis Presley’s guitarist Scotty Moore into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. Richards won’t be the only notable ushering-in an inductee. Jimmy Fallon will be on hand to induct Justin Timberlake during Saturday ceremony. The 2015 class of Memphis Music Hall of Fame members includes Alberta Hunter, Al Jackson Jr., Charlie Rich and Sam & Dave. Previous inductees include Elvis, B.B. King, Al Green, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash.

“In Performance at the White House”
WASHINGTON (AP) — There’ll be quite the jam session at the White House tonight. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will be inviting a host of music legends to take part in its “In Performance at the White House” series. Among the acts to perform tonight are Buddy Guy, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Keb’ Mo’, Smokey Robinson, James Taylor and Usher. Don’t have an invite? Don’t worry; the event will be taped for later broadcast on PBS.
“American Idol” Judge to Get Daytime Show
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Harry Connick Jr. is going to be on “American Idol” when its final season rolls around in a few months. And he has a little something lined that he might be able to fall back on once the show goes off the air. Connick is getting his own daytime variety show. NBC Universal says “Harry” will feature comedy, live musical performances and stunts. The show will make its debut next fall — and so far, has been sold to Fox-own TV stations in 17 U.S. markets.
Carey Mulligan – It’s a Girl
NEW YORK (AP) — Add a daughter to Mumford & Sons. Carey Mulligan gave birth a couple of weeks ago but only revealed the gender last night. She told reporters at the premiere for her new movie “Suffragette” that the baby is a girl and her name is Evelyn. Mulligan is married to Marcus Mumford.
John Legend and Model Girlfriend Expecting
LOS ANGELES (AP) — He’ll go from being a legend — to a father. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen (TEEG’-en) are expecting their first child. Legend and the 29-year-old model let out word on the pending arrival on Instagram — and a spokeswoman for her confirmed the post. The couple’s post features a black-and-white photo of themselves with the caption: “We’re pregnant!” Teigen noted that the couple has had trouble conceiving — but they are now looking forward to growing their family. Legend and Teigen were married in 2013.
James Taylor’s Mother Dies
CHILMARK, Mass. (AP) — The mother of singer-songwriter James Taylor has died. Gertrude Woodard Taylor died over the weekend at age 92. The singer says on his website that his mom was surrounded by four generations of family in the final moments of her life. Besides James, two others of Gertrude Taylor’s children became professional musicians.
Phil Collins Writing a Book
LONDON (AP) — Phil Collins says he has been asked several times to write his life story — but never felt the time was right. Apparently it is now. And the pop star is promising that he plans to tell his story “warts and all.” The book is due out in October of next year. No title yet for the memoir.
Melissa Etheridge Visits Women’s Prison
MARYSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Melissa Etheridge was so impressed with a video that female inmates made of her song that she went to the prison to sing for them. The Columbus Dispatch reports Etheridge performed for about 2,300 inmates at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio, on Wednesday. Inmates in an addiction-recovery group had made a video of themselves singing Etheridge’s song, “A Little Bit Of Me.” Etheridge invited the members of the group to sing it with her. She later visited their dormitory, left her autographed handprints in paint on the wall and encouraged the inmates to contact her when they’re released.
Chic is Nominated for the 10th Time for Rock Hall
NEW YORK (AP) — Maybe Nile Rodgers wants Chic (SHEEK) to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a little bit more this time. He’s encouraging visitors on social media to vote for Chic as part of the fan vote. It’s the 10th time Chic has been nominated for the Rock Hall, more than any other artist. N.W.A has been nominated for a fourth time, but the group now has the momentum of a hit movie behind them. Deep Purple and The Spinners have each been nominated for a third time. Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths and Yes are other repeat nominees this year. First-time nominees include Janet Jackson, Steve Miller, Chicago, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Los Lobos, Chaka Khan and James Brown’s backing band, The J.B.’s. The inductees will be announced in December. The Rock Hall inductions are set for April in New York.
Widow of Frank Zappa Dies
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Frank Zappa’s widow, Gail, has died. A family spokeswoman says Gail Zappa was surrounded by her children when she died yesterday at her Los Angeles home. There’s no word on the cause death. She was 70.
